The Paul Klee Grammar School (PKG) is a grammar school in Gersthofen that specialises in science, technology, languages and economics. Due to an increase in the number of students, the school needed a larger building. On the old fairground in Gersthofen, there was space for a new building on an area of over 21,000 square metres, which could be occupied in June 2024. In the new school year, the Gersthofen students started in the five-stream grammar school with, among other things, 47 classrooms, open learning landscapes, a triple sports hall, outdoor sports facilities, an underground car park and a cafeteria.

The new school building, which meets the latest energy requirements with its own photovoltaic system, among other things, is designed for up to 1,350 students. In Gersthofen, the aim was to ensure the greatest possible flexibility of use for the rooms and to also be guided by modern pedagogical concepts. The result is a ‘state-of-the-art, sustainable and forward-looking educational centre’ that, according to District Administrator Martin Sailer from the Augsburg district, is also ‘a place of well-being for children’.

Kugelgarn® textile flooring is being used more and more in schools because it increases the feel-good factor and also has a positive influence on acoustics. Kugelgarn® is particularly sound-absorbent and reduces ambient noise, which meets the requirements of modern school concepts. At the same time, the Swiss textile flooring offers maximum flexibility and can be used for a wide range of applications.

In addition, Kugelgarn® is more non-slip than smooth floors, which reduces the risk of falls and injuries. Another advantage of Kugelgarn® is that it is extremely easy to clean and robust, making it ideal for the intensive school day.

In the district of Augsburg, Kugelgarn® has already been used extensively as a floor covering in schools because of the positive experiences with it. Now the students at the Paul Klee Grammar School are also benefiting from the pleasant indoor climate.
